We’re getting close to the end of February, which means a couple of things. One, spring is just around the corner. And, two, mountain cedar is almost over.
The cedar season typically lasts though the end of this month. According to Dr. Paul Ratner, we’re still seeing levels in the high level – but that’s expected to tail off over the next couple of weeks.
As always, Champion Home Services likes to remind you there are a few things you can do to protect your family from allergies inside your home. Don’t forget to regularly change your air filters. If you or your kids are especially sensitive to allergies, check the filter every two weeks. In addition, buy a high-quality filter during the allergy season that affects you. Most of the cheap filters you see at HEB or Wal-Mart are in the 1-4 MERV range. If you’re looking for a high-quality filter, you want something in the 9-12 MERV range. Ask someone at a box hardware store for the higher-end filters. Finally, you might consider a UV air purification system for your home. These lights are installed in your air ducts and purify the air before it reaches you and your family.
Let’s all keep our fingers crossed that cedar goes away sooner rather than later.
