It seems hard to believe, but December 31st is just a few weeks away. Did you know there are several home improvement tax credits from the federal government set to expire at the end of the year?
One such tax credit applies to new, energy-efficient central AC units. The government will give you a $300 tax credit for buying a 16-SEER/13-EER or higher unit that qualify for the program.
You can also get a tax credit for buying things like energy-efficient windows and insulation. The insulation tax credit, for instance, is good for 10% of the cost of a qualified insulation purchase, up to $500.
You can find all the federal tax credits set to expire in a couple of weeks on the Energy Star website.
