We’re just a few weeks out from Halloween, so ghouls, goblins and ghosts are all the talk right now. But today we want to talk to you about vampires. A specific type of vampires, actually – energy vampires.
What are energy vampires, you ask? They’re the things you leave plugged in that continue to suck energy even when you’re not using them. Some typical energy vampires include:

- Televisions
- DVD players
- Lamps
- Coffee makers
- Video game systems
- Computers
So how much energy do these vampires actually waste? Energy Star says energy vampires cost the average homeowner about $100 a year.

An easier suggestion is to plug several energy vampires into one power strip. That way you can, with a single flip of a switch, shut off the juice to several energy vampires at one time.
