Federal Tax Credit Rebate Information
You can receive a federal tax credit when you make qualifying energy saving improvements. The federal tax credit equates to 30% of the installed cost of certain heating and air conditioning improvements, up to the cumulative amount of $1,500.00 during the two year term. The term is from January 1, 2009 to December 31, 2010.
What Qualifies
Qualifying improvements include energy-saving heaters and air conditioners, air quality components, and insulation. The tax credit can be applied to a single purchase or a combination of energy saving improvements.
How to get the credit
To get the federal tax credit you must file IRS Form 5695 with your personal taxes. It is recommended that you keep record of your receipts and consult with a qualified tax professional.
