With so many bills and expenses it is always a good idea to keep monthly energy costs at a minimum. Here are a few of our favorite energy saving ideas that any one can put into practice in their home.

Energy Saving Tips

  • Keep air conditioning thermostats set between 78 and 80 degrees.
  • Use programmable thermostats, so when your not Home during the day the temperatures are set higher.
  • Install ceiling fans to help circulate the air in the house.
  • Check and replace dirty air filter on a monthly basis.
  • If you have an older unit, consider buying a new high efficiency unit, SEER 13 or higher, which will reduce annual costs from older SEER 10 units by a minimum of 30%.
  • Use energy efficient windows.
  • Check and make sure there is sufficient insulation in the attic.
  • Keep fireplace dampers closed.
  • Check and repair air ducts for leaks or cracks.
  • Replace old skylights with new energy efficient models.
  • Have routine maintenance done on all your Heating, Ventilation, and Air Condition equipment.
  • Turn off kitchen, and bathroom exhaust fans within 20 minutes after you are done.
  • Replace old worn out weather stripping on doors and windows.
